It is important to know the feeding habits of catfish in order to have a more successful catfishing trip. Catfish will feed on different kinds of foods and baits, and not every kind will take the same bait. Of course, there are some similarities to consider, including how catfish find food and what types they are more likely to find.

The feed habits of catfish is similar in terms of types of catfish in that they all look for food by smelling. Sensory cells in the whiskers of catfish help them to find food. In fact, foods with stronger scents will be more likely to be found by catfish because it will be easier for them to detect these foods.

Also, catfish tend to be more active in looking for food at night. This is a better time for catfishing. While this is a common habit in terms of the feeding habits of catfish, different kinds of catfish will look for different kinds of foods.The feeding habits of catfish are different based on what type of catfish it is. The channel catfish, for instance, will normally look for food at the bottom of the water bed, and they particularly feed on aquatic insects. Crayfish and crustaceans are also popular among channel catfish. Younger ones will eat aquatic larvae. Also, channel catfish do not particularly like carrion, contrary to what some believe.

The blue catfish will look for food at the bottom of the water bed most of the time. When looking for fish they'll move upward though. Since the blue catfish has a more advanced body type, they can take both fish and aquatic insects regardless of size. However, an adult will take in mussels and a younger one will use fish that is smaller.

The white catfish is more flexible, but the feeding habits of catfish like this are different. This type of catfish does not always eat at night, and it can also eat fish eggs and aquatic insects. They will also eat plants, which makes their habits different from the other feeding habits of catfish.

Bullhead catfish are more of scavengers. Yellow ones will feed on snails and some organic decay, while brown bullhead catfish will take carrion, smaller fish and worms. These catfish are not necessarily picky in terms of their feeding habits, as they will take the lower level kinds of foods without argument.

The flathead catfish is the last type of catfish to look at. It has more of a predatory feeding habit when compared to the other feeding habits of catfish. They will feed on all kinds of fish in their areas, as they are hunters. They'll feed at the shallow parts of water in the nighttime, and they will go in groups to find food. They particularly like bass, shad and crayfish, but they will also feed on other catfish.

My Experience with JadeWorld

My family and I have been watching the JadeWorld channels for the last 7 years. When I want to go to Hong Kong from my living room, I click to channel 450 and 451. If I feel like challenging my listening skill, TVB8 is the channel that helps me decipher what the heck the Taiwanese are saying. Channel 454 is where I get the most out of all the channels, because it's all in standard Mandarin. I watch 455 whenever I get tired of listening to Chinese, but want to get my CCTV news in English. What about 453, the HK movie channel? I'm only interested in watching certain kinds of movies, and I've already seen most of the ones that interest me. 453 is to veg out on the re-runs.

You get all many sub-genre of programming from the Phoenix North American Chinese Channel, the Pheonix Info News, the MTV Chi Channel, and the CTI Zhong Tian channel. All Mandarin, all the time for less than $16 a month. Not a bad deal. And I'm particularly interested in what the MTV Chi Channel is like.

New Wedding Cable Network Channel Coming

Is this a good idea or not? That's the question that needs to be asked after Rainbow Media, the programming arm of Cablevision, announced that they will be launching a new wedding-themed cable channel, according to several executives familiar with plans. This is the same company that owns WE, or Women's Entertainment channel, which hosts some wedding shows already such as "Bridezillas," which is in its sixth season. Other wedding shows on WE include: "Amazing Wedding Cakes," "My Fair Wedding" and "Platinum Weddings."

Supposedly these wedding shows trend higher than much of their other fare. It will be 24 hours a day of wedding themed shows such as the ones above, how-to shows, and movies concerning weddings. For all we know, there might be a wedding news segment, a wedding music segment, and of course there will need to be celebrity weddings and the like.

In what's turning out to be the crowded world of cable television networks, this network, of which we're not sure when it's going to begin, will be competing with many other networks geared towards women's entertainment. We already mentioned WE, but there are Lifetime movies, Fit TV, SOAP, HGTV, Oxygen, Style, and a host of shopping channels that mainly feature products for women. Wedding themed shows, while they may appeal to upcoming brides, will have their hands full if they have to compete 24/7 with these other channels.

At the same time, having a channel that also includes many how-to's might not be the worst thing in the world. There's always talk that one show will contain items produced by Conte Nast, the owners of Modern Bride magazine, and possibly more, since Conte Nast has worked with WE in producing many shows in the past.

Anger Management - 3 Methods To Try

Anger can really eat at you if you let it. Of course, being a level headed person in control of their rage is often easier said than done. Who hasn't blown their top on occasion?

Here are three areas you can focus on in controlling your anger:

1) Calming (breathe)

Anger can affect you emotionally and physically. One of the first effects of anger is a quickening of your breathing. What is key here is to concentrate on slowing that breathing down. Take deep breaths (2 seconds in, 2 seconds out) and try and calm yourself physically. This will lead to you being calm emotionally as well.

2) Pause and Review

Anger is often caused by changes in regular routine or unforeseen events. When things get disrupted, getting angry is often a very easy reaction to have. The key to remember in these situations is that things change. Life does not always follow a straight and even path. When you get one of the proverbial curve balls and you feel like losing your cool, stop and take stock of the situation. Once you give things some thought, the situation is usually not as bad or serious as you originally anticipated.

Taking time to think the situation through can also help you consider other alternatives you would probably never have considered in your rage. Realize that anger has a way of shutting your mind off from rationalizing, which is hardly ever a good thing.

3) Channel your Anger with Exercise

Make your anger work FOR you, instead of working against you by creating physical ailments like elevated blood pressure. Exercise is an excellent example of how to channel the physical and mental aggression you have towards a healthy activity. The options you have for exercise are plentiful, and you don't need a gym membership to get started. A simple walk around your neighborhood or at your local park each day or every other day is a good start.

Remember to make your exercise a regular event; you'll need to keep it up as it will help you release your feelings of anger in a positive way. You will typically not make your best decisions in a state of anger. Feelings like this will often keep you from determining alternatives to the situation that caused your anger in the first place.

You have options - use the tips mentioned in this article as a starting point. Seek further help if you still have trouble. You can control your anger if you work at it. It is up to you to get started.

Calcium-Channel Blockers For Hypertension

All hypertensive patients who are undergoing an anti-hypertensive treatment agree on one goal - and that is to lower their high blood pressure. One of the controversial medications is the calcium-channel blockers.

Calcium-channel blockers, or sometimes referred to as calcium blockers, have been around lately in the field of anti-hypertensive drugs. Debates recently have stirred the efficiency of this product due to risk reasons. But just how effective really are calcium-channel blockers?

This drug takes its name from its working effect of soothing the blood vessels muscles and reducing the pumping power of the heart. These results in continuous and no restricted flow of blood thereby lowering the blood pressure. Some forms of calcium-channel blockers like diltiazem and verapamil are examples of these drugs that slow the rate of the heart.

Calcium-channel blockers can be used as a stand alone treatment or in combination with other anti-hypertensive agents like diuretics. Calcium-channel blockers work very well with African American hypertension patients, elder patients, and people who have hard time decreasing their sodium consumption. Patients with angina or a severe inflammatory or ulcerated condition of the mouth or throat may also find calcium blockers to be beneficial. These drugs also improve condition of people with coronary artery disease.

Potential side effects are triggered by calcium-channel blockers and among these are:

* Slow heart rate

* Constipation

Advances in medicine and recent studies however challenge the potency of calcium-channel blockers as relief medication to hypertension. Its popularity among the other drugs and its apparently low number of side effects did not escape calcium blockers from these controversies.

In the United States, it is estimated that about six million Americans dose with calcium blockers as medication. Scientists came up recently with articles stating that these drugs are indicative of higher risks towards heart attack. It even worsens angina and develops irregular heartbeat or arrhythmias according to the article. These claims were supported by a publication in 1995 called the Top Ten Medical Advances.

Studies printed in the Journal of the American Medical Association and in Circulation say that not all of the calcium-channel blockers available commercially are alike. Furthermore, it said that this agent contains what is called nifedipine which turned out to be risking factor of most heart attack cases.

The effect of nifedipine is unfavorable. Instead of reversing the rise of blood pressure, it may even promote hypertension. This is so, according to scientists, because calcium-channel blockers' ability to reduce blood pressure may cause sudden impact to body. In this state, the body overreacts and heightens the production of adrenaline which ultimately results in heart rate speeding up.

These speculations however remain to be proven. The absence of evidence that hook the dreadful effects of nifedipine and calcium-channel blockers and the limitation of nifedipine presence have led manufacturers to come up with an updated formulation of these drugs that are tagged as longer-acting and gentler agents.
