Chicks on Flicks Episode no. 14 Reviewed: Secret Of The Grain, Stop Loss, Bedtime Stories, Elegy

Neha Sareen and Ira Dubey review Secret Of The Grain, Stop Loss (DVD), Bedtime Stories, Elegy. Secret Of The Grain Neha says Catch it. An uconvebtinal delicious family saga of triumph and calamity, strength and fragility, fish and grain. Ira says Catch it. An extraordinary film about ordinary people, long but it will suck you in reminding you of some of life's most important things - food, fate and family. Stop Loss Neha says Trash it. It's a film handicap by a weak script that doesn't really get under the skin of the concept. Ira says Catch it. STOP LOSS may not have the magic of her last work, its still important- As in war and often in life, this one is not a bout a happy ending but rather the dark journey of men who are ultimately bound and confined by authorities leaving the taste in your mouth sour, rather than sweet. Not brilliant but relevant & enlightening. Bedtime Stories Neha says Trash it. An uneven comedy unable to capture the imagination. Ira says Trash it. Magical fairytale potential collapses into Sandler's style sloppy cheesiness. Plot bit silly, Sandler back to BIG DADDY days, performances average- COX wasted, humor stale and story bit too corny. Elegy Neha says Catch it. It's a compelling atmospheric work of art aided with some great performances by Sir Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz. Ira says Catch it. Strong performances & a good screenplay, camera work interesting- characters always edge of frames- direction, mood, tone- nice... some more discuss ...
