Do You Have Skills and Talents Other Than Just Acting?

You should know that a lot of Disney performers have skills that are not limited just to acting. They can also sing and dance and often lend their voices to animated characters. There are specific agents that look after these areas and sometime in the future of your acting career you may want to consider having separate agents if you want to work in more than one field.

Is All This Really Necessary?

You will find people who will tell you that it is not necessary to do 'all that' and if you do, guess what? They will be right. Anything is possible, BUT having those skills can dramatically increase your chances for success. Have skills other than just being able to act also widens your range of possibilities to get work. You automatically make yourself available for more types of jobs. Look at Zack Efron for example. He sings, acts and can dance!

It's About More Than Just The Look

What I have found is that many youngsters rely on being good looking or even beautiful. Those who fit into that category should realize that there are so many good looking kids out there and that if they really want to have a chance at getting Disney Channel auditions, because of the enormous amount competition, it is really necessary to do something to set themselves apart from the rest of the crowd.

But first, remember that when you are looking for an agent that you will have a better chance of getting signed if you have a headshot and professional actor resume and have taken some classes or participated in on-going training. You could take private singing lessons, join your local youth theatre group, drama club at school or even work as an extra to get experience in a professional environment. Disney Channel Casting Calls - 5 Tips to Make Sure You're Ready

If you go to an open Disney Casting Calls you may not be given a specific appointment but instead will be asked to show up say 'between 9am and 5pm', This is most commonly referred to as a 'cattle call' and is a little bit different to your standard sort of audition. Here are some tips that will help you get through this.

1. Arrive early, Disney casting calls and auditions are popular and you don't want to be waiting in line all day long. You might get tired, impatient or lose your focus. Waiting is probably going to inevitable but you may as well do yourself a favor and try and minimize just how long you have to wait for.

2. Take your headshot and resume with you so you have something to give the producers/casting directors if they ask.

3. If you have been asked to learn some text ahead of time, make sure you know it perfectly. It also would be beneficial to have a couple of monologues ready so that if they like you and ask you what else you can do you will have something ready to perform.

What Else You Can Expect

4. You may find that they ask you to audition with a group of other kids, or to do an improvisation or perform a monologue in front of your competition (the other kids in the group) or they may just take one look at you and decide that you aren't right for their project.

5. No matter what happens or whatever they do and however much it deviates from what you expected, don't lose your confidence or get thrown off. A casting director is going to be infinitely more impressed with someone who can take instructions and go along with whatever creative direction they ask you to go in.

Zac Efron

Disney Teen Star Zac Efron was born in San Luis Obispo, California to David Efron and Starla Baskett. He has a brother, Dylan, and has two Australian shepherds Dreamer and Puppy, as well as a Siamese cat named Simon. In real life Miley recently relocated to Los Angeles from Nashville with her parents, sister Brandi and Noah, brothers Trace and Braison and their dog Loco. The family left all of their animals, which include seven horses, three dogs and two cats back in Nashville under her grandmother's care.

Now in her spare time in Los Angeles, she enjoys talking on the phone with friends back home. She also follows in her father's footsteps by writing music, playing guitar and singing. She reports that her musical influences are pop singers Kelly Clarkson, Hillary Duff and Ashley Simpson. Miley also enjoys dancing and cheerleading.
