Passing Muster - The Importance of Periodic Channel Program Evaluation

When you think about it, manufacturers can make a case for viewing their channel partners as part of their employee organization. While that would be an extreme and inaccurate assumption, the channel is indeed an extremely important extension of your sales and marketing organization. And just as with your internal personnel, you must periodically evaluate to determine how well channel partners are performing on your company's behalf.

As is the case with your own employees, fair and accurate performance measurement requires setting and adhering to mutually agreed upon sales goals during regular time intervals. Instead of awarding pay increases and bonuses, however, you will dole out rewards and incentives to your channel partners.
These will be based on the ability of your partner and its sales staff to leverage your own (and jointly developed) promotional and marketing campaigns, which increases sales and revenue for the corporate coffers-yours and your partner's.

The process doesn't end there. You and your channel partners are mutually committed to each other's long-term growth and continued success. A reseller's performance during a particular month or quarter may meet, exceed, or fail to match expectations. If it's exceeding all goals, you and your partner must resist the temptation of taking an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to the next month or quarter. Your company's goal and your partner's goal are always the same: more, more, more!

Take time to jointly devise new, loftier-though-attainable goals for the next measuring period, making sure to also increase corporate and individual incentives for your partners to make the extra effort worthwhile. Also, don't fall victim to tunnel vision by planning only for the period directly ahead. Get a firmer hold of future channel sales projections, however idealistic they may seem, by formulating quantitative (A, B, C, or D), as well as qualitative questionnaires in which you ask your own sales personnel and channel partners to expound upon what they feel is working, what can be improved, and what might be better off tossed into the trash.

You are bound to come away with a bounty of new ideas as you provide your own employees and channel partners a clearer vision of their goals and responsibilities toward the achievement of agreed upon sales projections. You'll also garner a more loyal channel, as you provide a dose of affirmation that you value their contributions and are counting on them in the future. This provides a reassuring sense of comfort about their future job status, which is especially important during these perilous economic times.

Best Catfish Baits 1 - Chicken Liver

One of the best catfish baits available at you're your local grocery store is chicken liver. The blood in a chicken liver gradually seeps into the water providing an excellent scent trail for the catfish to find. Channel catfish and young (small) Blue catfish both will eat this bait up.

As with most catfish baits, they should be fished on the bottom with a slip sinker. One of the drawbacks to using liver for catfish bait is that it is difficult to keep on the hook when casting. This can be frustrating when you think you have a good cast but you see the bait fly off.

There are three things that you can do to keep fresh livers on the hook. Keep in mind that I use # 6 treble hooks for all of these methods.

1.    When placing the liver onto your hook try to work it so that you only puncture it once with each barb. The more you try to get it hooked the mushier you make it. You will still lose your bait at times this way.

2.    Put your liver on the hook as above but now take about ten inches of thread and wrap around the bait and the hook. Make it firm but not hard enough to cut into the bait. This stays on pretty good.

3.    Take some old panty-hose or potato netting (from a sack of potatoes) and cut a circle out of it the size you want to put your bait in. I make mine about three inches. Wrap it around the chicken liver and use a small rubber band to tie it up. You can cast a mile with this setup and it will not come off of the hook.

The Psychic Channel

Psychics who have the ability to channel spirits or deceased loved ones are considered to be mediums.

Mediums are psychic channelers who possess the psychic ability to tap into the spirit realm. There are primarily two distinct types of mediums: those who communicate with deceased beings and those who communicate with spiritual entities. These spiritual entities are considered to be of a higher plane or higher vibration and are believed to be connected to divine spirit. These are angels, spirit guides, and evolved spirits that have never taken human form. Psychic Channelers tend to communicate with spiritual beings that offer advice, wisdom and guidance.

During psychic readings, many channels will ask their own spirit guides to provide information about the person for whom they are doing the reading. These psychic readings are largely based upon the psychic's relationship to their own spirit guide. However, some channels may have direct contact with the subject's own spirit guides or angels. In either case, the psychic has direct contact with beings from another realm. The psychic channeler's primary job is to be a messenger and to relay the wisdom of the spiritual entities who are there to provide encouragement, support and guidance.

Most psychics who channel can remain conscious during this process. In other words, they do not have to enter into a trance like state to access information. Although some psychic mediums must enter a state of trance to channel, many have developed the ability to tap into their own psychic awareness while being totally conscious of their surroundings. Professional channelers have highly developed psychic skills. They have learned how to form a bridge between the realm of spirit and the realm of man.

The messages a channel receives can come in many different forms and depending on the skill of the psychic channel, these messages can be identified through a number of methods. Channeled information can be seen, heard, felt or sensed. Some spirit guides also like to communicate in their own distinct manner. Spirit guides can communicate through images, sounds, feelings or ideas.

The goal of the psychic channel is to interpret this information and convey it to the person for whom they are doing the reading. Psychic readings of this nature can be incredibly powerful. They can also be healing and provide one with information that can help them work through important life challenges. Psychic channels offer a glimpse into the spirit world and provide important formation that can have profound results.

How to Install an Amp

How to install an Amplifier:

1.) Disconnect the battery terminals: Just be safe. Do this.

2.) Run the power cable from the battery to the location of the amp or distribution block. (To read more about running wires, click here)

If you run it through any sort of sheet metal, be sure to protect the power cable with a rubber grommet, or some other protective device.

Be sure you have plenty of slack at both ends of the cable. This will make your life easier, trust me!

Be sure you run the power cable away from any RCA cables. I usually run the power cable down the side of the vehicle that the battery is installed on, and run the RCA cables down the center of the vehicle.

Once the cable has been run and secured, leave it alone for the time being. Don't hook it up, cut it or do anything else with it!

Be sure the power cable is secured with wire ties or some other means, BUT! Not until you have run the cable, and determined that the cable is going to work out where it is located.

3.) Find a suitable ground point close to the amplifier

This point should attach to the vehicle's chassis, and be a solid connection.

Run your ground cable from the amp (or distro block).

Just like with the power cable, this wire should be secured and protected. It should not be installed in a location that will distress it.

Use a piece of sandpaper to remove any paint or finish from your ground point. Use it to also sand away any rust or residue on your ground point. You want a good solid connection, so you'll want to see nice shiny metal.

Prepare an appropriately sized ring terminal

If your ground cable is going to be attached with a ring terminal (the most recommended means), attach it now. Remember! Do a good job here. We're looking for a strong, solid electrical connection. If you can use solder, I would recommend it!

Use a washer when attaching your ring terminal to your vehicle's chassis.

Finally, cover the ground point with something non-conductive. Also, Find some spray paint or finish that will protect your ground point from rust.

4.) Be sure to run RCA cables and the remote turn on!

Pull your head unit out of its mounting location.

If it's not already hooked up, hook up your remote turn-on wire to the head unit's wiring harness.

Determine which RCA cables will go to each channel on your amp(s). I find it useful to have a 4-channel cable and an additional 2-channel cable for your subwoofers. This makes it easier to run all of the wires at once.

Run your RCAs and remote turn-on. Keep the RCA cables away from any sort of power cable, especially the power cable for your amp(s). It's OK to run the remote turn-on wire with the RCAs.

Make sure all cables are secured and not installed in a way that will distress them. Be sure they aren't pinched, scraped or kinked during any sort of driving activity. In any places where they'll need protection, be sure to cover them with a tough material.

5.) Run all of your speaker wires.

Now it's time to run more wires! Run speaker wires from your speakers to your amp's installation location.

Just like with all of the different wires above, be sure they are secured and protected.

6.) Hook up all of the wires at the amplifier!

Hook up the RCAs, speaker cables, remote turn on, power then ground.

7.) Hook up a fuse holder near the battery.

Be sure you have this piece of equipment (and a fuse) before you even attempt to hook your amp up to your vehicle's electrical system. Seriously!

The fuse holder MUST be within 18" of the battery.

Be sure the fuse holder is connected solidly to the power wire.

Be sure you have the right sized fuse!

Be sure the fuse holder is mounted in a safe place, and the power wires are all secured away from any moving parts.

8.) Hook up any special battery terminals

If you have any fancy-schmancy battery terminals, now is the time to be sure they're connected properly. Be sure they are secure and protected. Hook up any other of your vehicle's cables to the battery. If you can get covers for your new battery terminals, I would recommend them.

9.) Reconnect the battery.

Put your shiny new terminals on those battery posts!

10.) Test!

Before turning your system on, turn the amplifier gains all the way down. Turn on your system and listen. Does everything work? How much noise do you hear? Is there audible distortion (If so, don't listen for long!) If everything's square, move on to the next step!

11.) Permanately Mount your amplifier

I hope that before you have gone through the previous nine steps, you have thought about how your amp fits into your system, and how you plan to install it. If not, I BEG OF YOU to think about this first. Figure out where you want your amp, how you'll get power to it, and what (if any) components will be installed near it. Also, don't be a fool! Be sure you've budgeted so you can actually afford everything you need for your amp to be installed FLAWLESSLY. Taking just a small amount of time to think about this stuff will pay off for a smooth install, and great sound. If you don't plan, you will screw it up.

When you mount your amp, you'll want to be sure you are protecting it from any sort of physical damage and heat. Car amps are tough, but you need to be sure that you are installing it in a way that protects your amp from these hazards.

Soooooo, to protect your amp from physical damage (because they are usually installed in places where they are prone to damage such as in the trunk or under the seats), it is best to build some sort of enclosure for it. This enclosure should be big enough to contain the amp (and possibly some fans), as well as the appropriate wiring. You will also want to be able to easily access the controls. If you really like to tweak your system, you might want to make your amp rack easily removable, but also keep theft in mind. Be creative on how to protect it. The truth is, you can get really fancy here, or just do something quick. Both will work.

Another thing to keep in mind when building an enclosure for an amp or mounting the amp in a place that is hot or has poor airflow is that the amp will get HOT. Heat damages electronics, so you should figure out a way to keep your amp cool and happy. Use fans, or even redirect the air conditioner!

One last thing about amps: I have found that if your amp is mounted to metal, it is sometimes prone to noise. I recommend mounting your amp to a piece of wood before installing it. This will prevent any sort or weird ground loop effects that introduce noise to your music.

12.) Tweak!

Now that you've installed your amp(s), you're pretty excited to get rollin. Step 1: Be sure all of the amp's gains are down, the bass boost is off, and the crossovers are set to the correct frequency band.

Get one of your favorite CDs, preferably one that is clean sounding. I have found classical and jazz to work great, but alternative and pop work as well. Try to avoid really loud or bass heavy music. If you must, try to use a more melodic CD: Not one that's just all bass, or noise, you know? The important thing is that the CD is representative of what you normally listen to, because it's YOUR system, and it's YOUR music. Darn tootin!

Step 2: Power on!

Step 3: Turn your head units controls to neutral. EQs off, loudness off, fade and balance centered.

Step 4: Turn the volume up until you hear distortion (you know it when you hear it, and go on to step 5), or the volume control is all the way up. (go to step 6)

Step 5: If you hear distortion, back the volume up until no more distortion is heard. At this point, you know how loud your system is gonna go before it starts distorting, sounding horrible, and smoking speakers. (Move on to step 7, and lower your volume!)

Step 6: If your head unit goes all the way up, and doesn't distort, you have a good unit that your amp can handle. Go to your amp, and while the music is playing, slowly turn up the gains. Once you hear distortion, back off a little. Turn your head unit's volume down!

Step 7: Now go to your head unit. Set all of the eq, loudness, crossover controls, and dsp that you want. Repeat steps 4-6 with all of these controls set to how you want them.

Step 8: Set all of your amp's bass boost or other controls to how you want them. Repeat steps 4-6 again.

Step 9: Once everything sounds good, you're ready to put a cover on your amp enclosure, and be sure your fans are hooked up properly. Put it away and forget it!

Step 10: You're in business! Have fun, and don't wake up your neighbors!

What's New on Channel 101?

It used to be that short-lived television shows which were cancelled from television networks just died a quick death, despite the fact that hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of fans tuned in each week to watch the new show's installments. These shows were taken off the air unceremoniously, without regard to a developed fan base.

Disappointed people everywhere should rejoice, because the 101 Network is bringing back four excellent shows that didn't quite make the ratings cut on major networks. "Smith," "The Nine," "Eyes," and "Wonderland" are all coming back to life on the 101. "Wonderland" is already running, and the other three will be soon to follow.

The 2006 crime drama "Smith" centers on a gang of professional criminals who hop from city to city perpetrating high level crimes. The show has been described by raving fans as "edgy, smart and dangerous," "one of the best programs I've ever seen," and "a high flying and fast-paced action series" about normal people successfully committing amazingly complex crimes.

The cast includes Simon Baker (currently of The Mentalist fame), Virginia Madsen (blonde bombshell who has made appearances on Star Trek: Voyager, CSI: Miami, and The Practice, to name a few), and Ray Liotta (who began his career as Joey Perrini on Another World and has since moved on to movie star fame).

The 2006 drama "The Nine" followed a group of strangers who were held hostage during a bank heist. The fresh concept of the show is the opening sequence, which each week depicts ten more minutes of the 52-hour hostage stand off, showing the viewer in great detail the series of events that led to these nine ordinary people being forever linked with one another.

The show starred the gorgeous Lourdes Benedicto, dashing Timothy Daly, perky Camille Guaty, the reserved Chi McBride, hot Kim Raver, likeable Scott Wolf, the inimitable John Billingsley, dreamy Owain Yeoman, down-home girl Dana Davis, and the classically trained actress Jessica Collins. An excellent cast with fine chemistry, "The Nine" was a great addition to satellite television offerings the first time around, and is sure to be a hit when it begins to rerun on the 101 Network.

The 2005 series "Eyes" (as in "private eyes") is a fast-paced drama about a high-tech detective agency. This all too short-lived show's basic premise is if someone steals $100 from you, call the cops. If they steal $100,000, call the FBI. If they steal $100 million, call the Judd Risk agency - quite exciting!

Intended as a mid-season replacement during breaks from regularly scheduled network shows, Eyes was overlooked by the networks, but not by the fans. It is brilliant but before its time, as other less sophisticated shows along the same premise have followed and been renewed. Eyes is definitely worth a look during your next local showing time.

"Wonderland" is already running on Channel 101 Network and has gathered a devoted following in its satellite television rerun resurrection. Check your satellite television channel guide for more information.

How to Handle the Distribution Channel Section of Your Marketing Plan

If you are planning to recover a distressed business, you need to develop a Turnaround Plan. This plan will contain a Marketing Plan that should be a standalone component and distinct from the overall Turnaround Plan. A critical component of the Marketing Plan is the Distribution Channel section.

The Distribution Channel section of the Marketing Plan should describe the methods used to distribute products and services in the current company and what, if any, changes will occur in this channel after the business turnaround occurs. It should emphasize any key aspects of the new distribution channel that will improve the chances for success of the overall Turnaround Plan.

To illustrate what to included in the Distribution Channel section of the Marketing Plan, we will use a fictitious company called XYZ Company. XYZ Company sells high-end medical lasers used in surgery.

[Beginning of excerpt from Marketing Plan]

Distribution Channel
In the current company, all educational materials are delivered via printed books and physical classes at our onsite educational facility.

In the transformed company, all educational products and services will be delivered over the Internet or at the customer location. We will provide service and support coverage remotely with a 24-hour support line. Overnight Federal Express will handle any required equipment repairs or exchanges.

The inventory will consist of online products stored in files and backed up in database repositories online. The Internet service provider will maintain these databases. Therefore there will be no physical inventory. This will result in a significant reduction in facility costs.

All products will be distributed using online methods. A typical transaction for an educational product will take place as follows:

Customer arrives at the XYZ Company website and clicks on Products. From the product menu, customer selects XYZ2590 Expert Training module, Online live session.

If the Customer has an account with XYZ Company, then they go into the Order Entry system; if they do not have an account, they are sent to the New Account menu, their email address is added to the main Customer List in the XYZ Company database, and the customer is sent to the Order Entry system.

- Customer specifies the dates for the online class
- Other add-on products are offered.
- Customer is moved to the checkout screen.

How To Start Your Own Video Channel On YouTube

* Backdrop and Shower curtain from Wal-Mart: $18

* Tripod from Sears: $30

* Expensive, Wireless Headphone (with "compander circuitry") that sounds like crap: $100

* Cheap-looking, Wired Headphone that just works: $20

* Pink-shade Table Lamp: $10

* 100W bulb (that you need to keep switching off between takes because the lamp-shade says it can handle only 40W): $2

* CyberLink PowerDirector: $90

* Getting great feedback from (rather kind) friends and family who enjoyed your spirited attempt: Priceless!

Ok, I finally gave in to my alter ego ("Wilson") and started a channel on YouTube.

Had a lot of fun creating the videos. Here's what I ended up learning (and buying), in order to make a half-decent video:

* Ventriloquism is 60% "funny script", 30% "sense of humor and timing" and only 10% "mouth-not-moving skills"

* You need to have a decent back-drop (read, your computer desk in the background really sucks). So, got some fabric from Walmart for $6, an extra long shower curtain for $12, and walla - bearable background for my videos! I just placed the shower curtain on the front edge of my book shelf - so didn't even have to bring out the screwdriver (or my drill) - and no nails were hurt during the hanging of my backdrop.

* Need a tripod - so got a 66″ tripod (~ $30) from Sears - ordered online and picked up the same evening in-store. The 3rd-party merchant I found on Amazon that was selling the 70″ tripod I really wanted, said it would take 3 weeks to ship. I wanted it like, er, "yesterday". So, 6 inches short, sure, but got it in 3 hours flat.

* You need more-than-good-enough sound. My spanking new $100 wireless headphone bought-just-for-this worked like crap. Went back to my old $20 wired, brandless headphones that I bought from Staples 4 years ago, and the sound is like 10 times better (see difference in sound between video #1 and #2 below). So all you really need is a half-decent mike - don't splurge on the microphones, unless you have the $500+ ones.

* Need good video editing software - have had PowerDirector for a few years now - have edited a few home videos and stuff. Paid for an updated version - it kicks butt and has pretty much everything a non-power-user would need. Very happy with PowerDirector (~ $90) so far, but I have a feeling I will be outgrowing it sooner than later (especially, when I think of doing, say chroma keying (the green-screen stuff).

* Of course, you need a camcorder (I have an old, big-ass Sony), and the cable to connect it to your computer (faster if you have a FireWire port).

* The regular lighting in your room is no good. So I borrowed my 8-yr old daughter's pink-shaded table lamp (without her permission, and got yelled at later) and set it up on a chair next to me during the shoot.

* If you have PowerDirector (PD) installed, it automatically prompts to be launched when you plug your camcorder in. Just put the camcorder in "Play" (VTR) mode, and hit the red "Record" button in PD, and it starts recording right away. Once you finish recording, hit "Stop", save the file, edit it (very intuitive interface) to add sound effects, transitions, trimming out bad takes, etc

* PD v5 has a cool new "Create File for YouTube" feature - where it will create a slightly low-res Windows media file (.wmv) that has a smaller file size compared to MPEG's (given YouTube's 100MB limit), and will even upload it directly to YouTube (provided you've logged in previously, of course)

* Create a new YouTube account with the same name as your channel (because you can't change the login later).

* Create and upload the video directly from PD.

* Wait for like at least 2-3 hours before you can see it live (used to be live within just 10 minutes as recently as 6 months ago!)

* Any changes you make to your channel (description, change to template, colors, etc) will take anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours to take effect.

* Wait for it to go live, spam your friends and family, and publish the video on your site or blog

App Review - Weather Channel Max For iPad

What would you say if I told you I could stuff a whole specialized cable network into your iPad, provide just about everything you get from that network, plus add some cool social networking features and tons of special information you can only get online?

Don't answer too fast. I'm talking about The Weather Channel Max for iPad, and this app is the definition of running before you walk, an exercise guaranteed to make you look awkward and uncoordinated.

But let's get to the positives first: The Weather Channel Max app for iPad indeed gives you just about everything The Weather Channel on TV offers. You get forecast videos, which are also available in just about every other weather app out there. But you also get storm videos, national and local weather alerts, tweets from TWC personalities, and live traffic cams. There are weather maps with overlay layers for radar, temperature, rainfall, snowfall, and clouds. And of course, just as in a cable weather broadcast, the maps are in motion.

In addition to all that, the app is free. So how could you be anything but ecstatic with this app?

Let's start with the "free" part. TWC Max for iPad may be free, but by the time you've used it for any length of time, you will probably wish it were not. That's because TWC Max is chock full of ads. Static ads appear on selected pages at selected times. Every video starts with a commercial. You don't care; you're not buying the product; you just want to know if it's going to rain. Yet there they are.

So even though the app is free, you feel like there's an opportunity cost just for running it. You know how you will pay a few hundred bucks for a new computer every two or three years because the old one's just too slow? That's how you will end up feeling about TWC Max. You'll gladly pay to get the weather information you want without the time-burn of watching another car commercial.

What else? The videos load slowly. The maps animate slowly. And TWC Max is so notorious for crashing that some iTunes store reviewers have taken to calling it TWC Crash.

There's a ton of information in TWC Max, but TWC has misjudged how much of it can be delivered without crippling the app. There's a chance of a sunny future in the forecast, but for right now, this one's a washout.

Buy Cheap 2 Channel Power Amplifiers

People are constantly looking for amplifiers that will provide them with a better way of listening to the music that they love hearing.

The 2 channel power amplifiers generally have a 2 x 100w continuous amplification; unique ultra low feedback design which delivers superb overall sound and a capacitor-free signal path that gives an accurate and fast bass.

They are also controlled by remote. It is standby in terms of operation and always maintains the voltage rails which instantly warms up the system.

The balanced and unbalanced inputs are also included in the system but have the bridge mode that regulate the frequency levels and sound efficiency.

Nowadays, they have a line of high performance digital and analogue consumer audio components that attract more and more investors. It is specifically designed to be free standing or rack mounted.

It may be the cheapest of all the amplifiers that are sold in the market today but they still meet the expectations of the customers nonetheless. There are products which include the broadcast-quality, wide bandwidth video components, as well as the video capabilities.

Another appeal is that these are easy to use. Those who are not techie can still understand how to operate the system.

There are many ways to buy 2 channel power amplifiers either in your local electronics stores or online. If you are cash strapped for cash, I would highly recommend buying them online.

They are plenty of bargains to be had buying them online. An example is Ebay where you can buy 2 channel power amplifiers for as low as $50.

Recent Updates to the Dish Network Channel Packages

Dish Network is continually trying to meet the needs of their viewers by improving the Dish Network channel packages. This is one of the ways that Dish keeps their customers satisfied. The Dish Network channel packages are frequently being updated with new channels not only to please their current customers but also to appeal to new customers. Here are some of the recent additions to the Dish Network channel packages:

Bridges TV

Bridges TV is the American Muslim lifestyle Network offered in the English language. Bridges TV has sitcoms, movies, cooking shows, cartoons, and news reports that are relevant to Muslim culture. Bridges TV is now offered nationwide via Dish Network. One of the most popular programs on the channel is Each Other, a show about a Muslim woman in the United States who is trying to make it as a reporter in New York. Bridges TV is just one example of Dish Network's multi-cultural television channels (Dish offers about sixteen different international packages, each in a different language).

Bridges TV will certainly increase the Dish Network audience adding a whole new market that will find interest in Dish Network channels. With already more than seven million Muslim Americans and growing, there is a large audience for this new additional channel. There is also hope that Bridges TV will help bring a greater understanding to this often misunderstood religion. The Bridges TV addition to the Dish Network channel lineup will definitely give the viewer more options. Bridges TV can be found on channel 578.

Voom HD Channels

High Definition Television (HDTV), a digital television format, gives a superior sound and picture quality. HDTV has a very high resolution, about twice that of conventional television. Voom is a company that offered the largest range of HDTV programming but is now no longer in business. In order to increase the Dish Network channel offering, Dish Network has purchased Voom's satellite. This gives Dish customers the chance to watch several original Voom HD channels

The new addition of these Voom channels makes Dish Network's HD package the best in the nation. Viewers now have access to channels such as RUSH HD, Gallery HD, Rave HD, Ultra HD, Equator HD, Monsters HD, Animania HD, Majestic HD, HD News and Guy TV HD. These channels have programs on fashion, fiction, travel, science, music concerts and much more. The addition of these high-definition channels to the current Dish Network channel packages definitely enhances what Dish has to offer for their viewers.

Eventual Addition of a Karaoke Channel

There are future plans to add a Dish Network channel that will allow one to karaoke with the use of this new channel. This will be the nation's first interactive Karaoke channel and will change the way Dish Network is viewed. A Karaoke channel adds a whole new dimension on television programs and how they are used.

This Karaoke channel comes from Sound Choice and was created by OpenTV Corporation. Dish Network customers will have a choice of two play lists with ten songs each that will change every two weeks. These songs will range in style and genre from hip-hop to country. Viewers will be given a chance to try it out for free before subscribing to see what it is all about. This will be a new and exciting addition to the current Dish Network channel packages.

The additions of Bridges TV, Voom channels, and the eventual addition of a karaoke channel, all will enhance the Dish Network channel line-up. These additions will add to the great possibilities available with Dish Network. These Dish Network channel additions will give more to viewers.

Stand-Alone DVRs Vs 4 Channel DVRs

Video Recording has come a long way. It was not too long ago that people recorded video on VHS. But now people are going digital with digital video recorders (DVR). The stand-alone DVR and the 4 channel DVR are two examples. Although both their features are similar, they differ in the way that they are used. Read on to more about these differences.

Size And Prize

Looking at how the two devices look will tell one from the other. Stand-alones resemble any upstanding media player which comes in one single box. You only have to connect the device to your television sets to use it. On the other hand, a 4 channel DVR is a more advanced video recording device because you have to use it with a personal computer along with other peripherals such as a mouse and a webcam for each separate channel. Because of its security features, DVRs that are used for surveillance tend to be more expensive than those used in home entertainment systems.

Functionality

The way these two digital video recorders are used make it unique from the other. You can use stand-alone devices to record television shows that you may have missed. You can program the device to record your favorite basketball game so that you can watch it once you are home after work. On the other hand, a 4 channel DVR is mainly used to beef-up home security systems because of added security features such as motion detection and video searching. It also supports the use of removable media such as hard disk drives and writable optical drives. Using the device results in clearer surveillance videos and improved video playback.

Ease of Use

Because of its security features, a 4 channel DVR may not be so easy to operate as compared to a stand-alone DVR. Anyone can set up the latter with just the aid of a user-manual. However, you may have to consult a professional when integrating your DVR into your home security system.

Storage Capacity and Features

The 4 channel DVR clearly has the upper hand in terms of the amount of data that can be saved. For sure, the device comes can store hours and hours of surveillance data more than any high-powered computer could. To take the security of public places such as shopping malls, schools, hospitals, and theaters up a level, these devices can accommodate up to 32 channels! The storage capacity of stand-alone DVRs, although large, fails in comparison with DVRs in security systems. Stand-alones may lack security features, but its recording and playback capabilities are up-to-par. The device will greatly change the way you watch TV at home.

You should consider these differences if you are thinking of getting yourself a digital video recording device. Do not confuse the two devices from each other because they have different uses and functions. The thing to remember is that a 4 channel DVR is used in security systems, while a stand-alone DVR is used for entertainment purposes only.

How to Fly an RC Helicopter - A Quick Lesson

One step above toy is the hobby version RC Helis that comes with a 3 to 4 channel remote control. They allow for almost all types of flight with the exception of extreme acrobatics. The full capabilities only come out with the 6 channel radio controlled models. This allows for full 3D helicopter movements that really push the limits of what the helicopter can do.

A true newbie should master one type at a time. You can lock out the controls on a 4/6 channel radio and make it into a 2 channel, however you don't want to be flying a nice 5 channel capable heli in 2 channel mode. It's too dangerous for a more expensive aircraft. That said, if you are about to spend a couple bills on a nice Walkera 6 channel copter you want to know how to fly a 2 channel first and then a 3 channel. So go ahead and grab them all together. You'll have that nice pretty one in the corner that you will be thanking me for while you smash the $20 one into the wall. They don't break too easily since they are small and lightweight. You might still break one if you get a bit over excited though, but not to worry. They are easily and cheaply replaced. Another great thing about 2 channel is they are 99% ready to fly out of the box.

So 2- channel helicopters have really only two controls and these are the first ones anyone has to master. These are Throttle and Rudder.

The throttle is the control that sends the motor power to the blades. You always want smooth throttle control. Do not slam it to 100% throttle or you will loose control quickly. Practice slowly increasing throttle until you see the helicopter lift off the table or ground slightly. See if you can "bounce" it gently on the surface

The rudder comes into play so that you can direct these machines a bit. With a 2 channel you don't have total control but it can still be fun. The rudder will simply control the rotation of the body of the heli with respect to the blades. This will balance the heli and allow for forward movement, or a basic direction change.

Now with a 2 channel you begin to notice the helicopter will fly in seemingly random directions. It's not random at all, but very specific to the weight balance of the helicopter and the blade angle. In a 4 channel you control this balance with more control directions as well as carefully managing the weight. On your 2 channel you need to test out different weights and positions to find the right balance for the small copter. Experiment, this will be good practice before you lift off your 6 channel machine. With the right setup and practice you will be able to perform a good hover with your 2 channel at different heights. You'll be able to descend to a hover and take off to a hover just inches above the ground while keeping the body in place with the tail rotor.

Now the only difference between the 2 and 3 channel is the ability to move it forward on command.

You can then direct the helicopter around the room and land on certain areas and fly around obstacles. That simply takes a bit of practice to accomplish but you can learn in one day, granted that you've learned all the basics of a 2 channel.

A 4 channel simply lets you also move backward. Some are larger, and thus easier to hover, but are going to require outdoors.

Moving on to the 6 channel helicopters is a bit different. These are usually a lot larger and require outdoors for safety. The rotors spin very quickly. The trade-off is worth it since the acrobatics you can perform with these are incredible and awe-inspiring.

The sticks on a 6 channel will let you move them in multiple directions at once - like a video game controller with joysticks. You can then learn the inverse hover, loops, rolls and all full 3D maneuvering. The only real way to learn those is with a simulator truly or with lots of preparation through practice and a good feel for the helicopter.
